The Fourth of July is a big weekend in the summer: The city puts on an excellent fireworks show that is visible from all over the town, thanks to the no-high-rises ordinances. The Palm Springs Aerial Tram is open all summer, with a short  closing for maintenance scheduled for Sept. 13 through Oct. 1. The Living Desert is also open with summer hours of 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. starting June 1 through Sept. 30.  A charming summer event at the Living Desert is the Father’s Day Breakfast on June 20^th. Fathers get a special tour including special close-ups of the giraffe exhibit. Reservations well in advance are required.
