A unique event is occurring this weekend in Indian Wells — the “Festival of Life” will be occupying the area across from the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The event organizers have arranged accommodations for up to 15,000 visitors each day.
 
The event theme is religious — it has been organized by a multi-denominational coalition of churches throughout the Coachella Valley.
 
The event is not entertainment for just the local church members. The organizers hope that everyone in the Coachella Valley will feel welcome to check it out. The price is right — entry is free, entertainment is free and there will be a free medical clinic and dental/eye glass examinations. Food concessions for reasonable amounts will also be available.
 
For families looking for fun for the kids, there is a free children’s concert on Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
 
The music will range from rock bands:  “Third Day,” five Grammy-winner Steven Curtis Chapman and Sarah MacIntosh to Hispanic artists such as Salvador, Maria Del Sol and Ernesto d’Alessio.
 
There will be mini-festivals all weekend at other venues located in Indio, Thermal and Thousand Palms. A safe bet for families or anyone wanting to see and do something different with part of their weekend. Check out the calendar of events and their website.
