What is Twitter?

Twitter is a real-time messaging social network that allows individuals and businesses to send “tweets,” or instant message updates on status, news, links, and more.

Users that are on Twitter can “follow” other users with interesting “tweets” or to show they are a friend or fan of that Twitterer. By following another individual on Twitter, you receive live updates on that person or business’ tweets in real-time.
