The city of Palm Springs fared slightly better than other desert cities in unemployment numbers recently released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Riverside County as a whole has been hit hard by unemployment. The rate fell in April 2010 to 14.3 percent from the previous month’s 15.1 percent. Riverside still has a higher unemployment rate than the State of California which in April was 12.6 percent.
